A Ronin: (wave man - one who is tossed about, like a wave in the sea) was a rogue or masterless samurai.

has anyone tried out one of these yet? they look liked they would go huge for loops and ariels, but the volume looks so compact cartwheels, especially flatwater, could be hard. Has anyone actually tried it to confirm these thoughts. Colorado kayak supply is selling them and i was looking into to maybe buying one.

I heard it's a flop. The bow purls way too easily. That's a probem with all of the high performance boats but the ronin takes it too far. This is just what I heard from one of my friends whose sponsored by WS. We loved the new fun though and we both hated the old one. A lot of LL team paddlers are disapointed he told me. That's why they continued to paddle the vision on garb at world cup.

ya it is a little hard to get the bow under and keep a controlled cartwheel just because of the added volume but its got a ton of pop and its wicked loose as well as really fast. I think its made more for newer moves but you can still do older tricks like cartwheels and split wheels it just takes some getting used to. Apparently it realeases well for the spinning combo moves but i cant do those so im not sure i dont doubt it though. Good luck wiht the baot search

Ya on smaller waves it can pearl a little but all you need to do is carve more. Also since the stern rocker is lowered giving it more speed on waves you can pearl while in a backsurf on smaller features, another simple solution though is to lean forward a bit more to keep the stern up out of the water. Overall I think its a great boat which is why I bought it but dont take my word for it go out and try it as well as others.

The nose/bow does pearl pretty easy. I spent a lot of time trying to keep either end out of the water while front surfing or back surfing. I really had to exaggerate leaning forward and backward, it was annoying. I felt like the boats weight wasn't centered correctly. It is loose though. I paddle a project 45 and I still like it better.
