I tried the Project 62 on Sunday. Didn't try it for long as I was busy with other stuff so can't tell you much. Only constructive thing I can say is that it is pretty large in volume and a bit of a pig to flatwater cartwheel. I weigh 85kg with nothing on and at the time only had clothes, obviously, pfd, spraydeck, shoes and helmet and nothing in the boat.
Pretty slow during ferries but I quickly surfed a small wave and it felt very nice indeed.
That probably doesn't help much anyway... :bounce:

So what was it like in the hole or on a wave. Flat water crap water.

ive seen some amazing video of this boat, looks to be super loose and goes huge. Been in the 45 version and cartwheels smoothly. theres been a lot of hype and it was got paddlers pick or whatever its called from paddler magazine for best boat. If i could one playbaot the project series would be it.

From the Project 62??
From the 45 and 52 I 've seen a lot, great boats indeed!!
But from the 62 I've seen nothing like action pictures or videos till now, even not on the site www.doubleyouess.com

i think it was the 62, i didnt get a look at the numbers on the back but it looked big enough for it to be. I would think that all three sizes would perform the same tho. Hopefully anyway.

just moving to project 62 from a RAD 185. I loved my RAD. Its a bloody good all round boat. having paddled the 62 I was convinced just for playing this was a fantasitic machine. This is unbelievable loose. edge to edge transition very snappy and smooth. very responsive. super easy to throw. overall good play boat. I'll write after some more paddling. fellows in the 80 - 90 kgs who are 6'+ are caught at the boderline between 52 and 62. tried 52, didn't feel all that balanced so went for 62.

Jou! I think 6`6 can be too much for the 62. I`m 6`3 and fit very well, but, the boat is not att all long. So you better test the boat before buying one! You weight will not be a problem.

The large Fluid Flirt and large Fluid Nemesis have acres of space. The Flirt has a little more I'd say. Here's a proto large Nemesis(Leif says\"I am 6’6”; wear about a size 14 (US) shoe, and probably a 34 to 36” inseam. I weigh about 210 lbs.\"):
www.fluidkayaks.co.za/Junction_070910.htm

and here is a pic of a mate of mine in a large Flirt (he is about 6'4\", I think):

Here's another guy who is 6'6\" in a large Flirt:

You would fit in there, no doubt. Probably in the Nemesis too

Sorry but I've just tried this boat and couldn't believe how easy everything was. Flat water moves very easy! Ferry gliding, very fast! On a wave, quick! In a hole, predictable!

Outfitting.....could be better!

My weight changes from between 84-88kg's, I'm 6'4ft with Uk size 12's.

Like most I saw nothing of this boat until I got into it; everyone told me it was a pig to throw around so I but some grunt into my first attempt and it went nuts now hardly do anything with the paddle and the boats is never horizontal....

Oh apart from when I want it to be....would be a great wee river runner too due to it's speed!

Re:Wavesport Project 62 16 years 3 months ago #24607

it 's not as good an all rounder as the rad 195 and the loops are nowhere near as big but its a fun boat if you want something easy to throw around. 6 foot 4 is the height limit for this puppy though. probably fit in the rad at 6 foot 8
