Steep creeks, big water, technical lines, smooth waves - if you do not want to limit yourself on just one of these - take the new DIABLO.

If you're happy, you're successful.

Eskimo Diablo 2005 18 years 5 months ago #31129

I need some help reconfiguring my boat situation. I have a Pirouette for flat water and attainment work outs in the winter and a Diesel for (everything else) river running, surfing and what limited play I do. I am going to get a real play boat and want to replace the Diesel with a better RR. The Diesel feels slow to me and does not seem to carve, ferry, punch or turn like I want in pusher water. I was thinking of an Eskimo, Diablo or LL Hoss. I saw the new (2005) Diablo and really liked it, but did not get to paddle it, I also can't find and reviews on it. Does any one have any suggestions for a replacement for the Diesel. (I am about 210lb, 6'1\") I also do not do steep steep creeks. Thanks, Matt

What size Diesel do you have, 65 or 75?

I used a Diesel this summer and switched to a Diablo a few weeks later. The Diablo is much narrower, and it rolls a bit easier than the Diesel. I'm about 6'2, 210, and it had plenty of room to spare. I haven't paddled a Hoss, but I would definitely recommend the Diablo. Be sure you demo it before you buy though.

Was that the 2005 Diablo? I was able to paddle one last week but it was about six years old or so. I understand that a lot of changes were made to the 2005. I am looking to barrow one for a few hours. I paddle on the Potomac and always keep my eye out. The Eskimo rep said he can't help me in the DC area.
