I plan on running some 20' drops on Fossil creek at the end of the month in the Mega Rocker. I'll post a proper review soon.

Hey I just paddled the Maga Rocker in Mexico, and it Rocked! We ran some big stuff too, like some manditory 40, and 60 footers, as well as some 65 footers, and 70 foot near vertical slides.

Check it out for yourself

Just one question - does the new Mega Rocker bowstalls as balanced as the old Rocker? HA HA :roflol:
Seriously, are we going to see you doing a stall in this one too?
Enjoy, it looks sweet!

Hey guys,
Do you think the Megarocker works for me(73kg/160lbs) while running hard stuff? Looking for a boat for steep creeks, big technical rapids, big falls etc.

It would be great for overnight trips for you, but if you don't overnight much I would look at the redesigned Rocker, which is better suited for your weight range. Should be out in a month or two.

Re:Jackson Kayak Mega-Rocker 18 years 4 months ago #11584

Ya the Mega Rocker has a lot of room, so if your need a boat to carry over-night gear and or camera gear it would be perfect, but for just boating your size would fit better in the new Rocker, which comes it in like a 2 months.

Also if you just like paddling a boat with more volume, to keep you on the surface and resurface you quicker off big drops, than the mega rocker might be good for you.

I'm 150 lbs and i used it in Mexico and loved it, we ran some steep drop and tech lines, but i also had camera and overnight gear with me most of the time.

Try it and see for yourself.

It is a great design.

Re:Jackson Kayak Mega-Rocker 17 years 6 months ago #18676

Beware - the plastic on my orange Mega rocker is VERY soft is like chedder cheese. According to Jackson it's not one of a bad batch.... so are all Jackson kayaks made from crap plastic?

This is a SUPERB boat with no other faults, but if it's only going to last 1 season then it's no good to me.

I'll be buying a Pyranha Everest or a LL Jefe Grande next.

Hey Man,

I'm not sure what you are talking about. The Cross-link plastic is super bomber. It is stiffer, lasts longer, and streches twice as far as linear before breaking. I would like to know what you find is the problem with your boat, because if it only lasted one season it would be within warrenty and Jackson Kayak would then replace it.

I can try and help if you tell me what the problem is?

Thanks,

Nick Troutman

Re:Jackson Kayak Mega-Rocker 17 years 6 months ago #18761

I paddle a green Mega Rocker as my only boat, and I have had zero problems with the plastic. I have the normal scratches on it, but nothing too terrible at all. Actually, I was paddling with a girl on Saturday who told me that I need to get some more scratches on my boat and that it looks too pretty. I have paddled whitewater around twice a week on since I bought it in May, and it still looks great.

So in short, I have not see any issues at all with the plastic, and I do not by any means pamper my boat.

EJ posted his review of the new Rocker recently. He said they had 75 boats with problems this year and 50 of those broke. All of them were replaced. Here's a link to the article...

Re:Jackson Kayak Mega-Rocker 17 years 3 months ago #20061

Nick, glad you mentioned that you might be able to help. I just returned my second Mega Rocker as it cracked in three places in the hull. One crack was perpindicular to the boat, totally not normal. At any rate, my first Mega last 4 runs on the Green Truss in Washington, not a boat beater run. My second laster about 15 runs on various WA creeks. I hope you're right and these boats stop breaking, otherwise it's off to the Jefe Grande. Let me know if you have any info other than cook times that might shed some light. Also, are the new ones going to hold together? Thanks

Oh ya, I understand that Jackson has a good return policy, but it's a pain to return a boat and wait for a new one. In the Gorge, all year is the on-season! Warranty is a good thing, but I really just want to boat that can paddle at least one good season in the Gorge without cracking!

Re:Jackson Kayak Mega-Rocker 17 years 3 months ago #20076

i'm sorry to hear that your mega-rocker broke. I agree with you completely, that good customer service can't help you in the gorge. Though if you have read about it, we had a problem with their cooking cycle and they weren't being cooked long enough. They have fixed that problem now and they have added a creek track under the beam to distribute the load better. The 2008 Rockers will be better than ever, and check out the new hero series too. I just paddled one and it rules!

Re:Jackson Kayak Mega-Rocker 17 years 3 months ago #20077

Sweet, I'm not giving up on Jackson, just don't want to repeat the 2007 problems. Thanks for the input though, I look forward to the 2008 model and hopefully a fully trashed boat without breaks in a few years, rather than a barely used boat with cracks after a few runs. I love Jackson as a company! I'm stoked to demo the new SuperHero, do you like that better for creeking than the Rocker? I wondered about the planing hull, about hard hits. But it would be nice to have something that was a little more sporty than the Mega. The Mega is just such a nice boat, safe, paddles great, etc, that the little extra loose float it has on the top of the water is a fair trade off for ALL THE POSITIVE aspects it brings to the river.

As it is, nobody has new Megas or new Heroes in stock, so I'm chomping at the bit.

take care

Re:Jackson Kayak Mega-Rocker 17 years 3 months ago #20078

Ya I agree that the Mega is just a wicked boat, and you wont have to worry about the durability for the 2008 Rockers. Also the super Hero will be a bit more sporty for sure. I would still probably take a rocker for long expeditions trips etc. Though the new Hero Series is fully creekable, and might replace my rocker. Check out the Hero video- www.jacksonkayak.com/jkvideos/200801511.mov

Anyway demo it for yourself, it's gonna rock your socks off.
