Boats Database: Bliss-stick Huka

A boat named after Huka Falls sure better meet the stiff expectations that goes with the run's reputation. It's a bold name, but all indications are that the boat's a winner.

If you're happy, you're successful.

here in quebec we don't have a distributer for bliss stick kayak, the only thing i heard about the boat was a guy selling it because he founded himself too heavy for the boat at 190#

On the playak database there is a review from a guy saying that it does not hold the line, and that is quite bad for big water.

any other comments?

Hey there, I live in Idaho and have many friends including my other half who run Hukas. This is a dedicated creeker that will turn on a dime, crash holes and rocks and boofseam. Susan would paddle nothing else when creeking. There are many Hukas running the North Fork of the Payette which if your not on your line you are really going to get worked. There is some great footage running aroung out there of Nikki Kelly running the hugh water, and winning many an exstream race in a Huka.

Susan and a friend Ryan can also surf them pretty well.

Hope this helps but if you really want to find out, get in one for a weekend on your favorite creek, it's the only way.

Ciao
thank you for your message, very informative.
I'm sorry but my concerns remains, because the guy who wrote the review on playak database has my same weight (80 kg).
As you suggest the only way out is to try it, and i'd like to do.
Unfortunately it is not easy to find a huka in Italy.

Don't worry about what the review said. That review is based on that person's opinion and his/her opinion only. They said the following:

\"This boat doesn't track and can't hold line... I got stuck in a (big) hole with this boat and it took ages (and a good trashing :-)) to get out of it.. \"

That doesn't mean a thing. Perhaps they messed up a line and it's easy to blame the boat for an embarrasing mistake or whatever the case may be. I'm not trying to bad mouth the reviewer at all though. ;) Maybe the boat is not the greatest, I don't know. But get a few more opinions and if they same theme reoccurs you know something is up. Best way to know is to try and test one. But as you said they are scarce in Italy. Good luck. :roflol:

I am sure that there is one to be found. If you will check with some of the European distributors, I am confident that they could find you one. They are bound to know someone close to you in order for you to demo. Click here.

The Huka is a great boat! Like Terry said, \"full on creeker\".

We'll see. :)

In italy as far as i know there was just one distributor, now it does not exist anymore, moreover it was in NE italy while i live and paddle in NW italy.

What about weight range for Huka?

ciao

Gange,

At 80 kg or about 175 lbs, you will be fine. I weigh in or around 200 lbs and I feel the boat is still good to go.
