The Santee Expedition bridges the gap between entry level kayaks and more sophisticated touring designs. It retains the same design characteristics that make the Santee line-up fun and easy to paddle, but with added features the Santee Expedition is ready to roam. Equipped with ample storage, bow and stern hatches and a full complement of deck rigging, this kayak is well-suited to long day trips and overnight travel.

Hurricane Kayaks Santee Expedition 16 years 6 months ago #31260

I'm shopping for my first kayak (kayak newby) and the dealer is recommending the Hurricane Santee Expedition 14 or the Old Town Adventure XL 139. I'm 6'2" and 255 lbs and will be using the boat for day touring in rivers, lakes and coastal bays. The dealer has no provisions for a demo or renting the kayaks. I read the reviews on paddling.net, no review mentions a paddler's weight close to mine or any experience in coastal bays.

Any comments or other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
