Boats Database: Pyranha Karnali L

'I anticipate the Karnali to become the dominant boat in our fleet for novice paddlers. The primary stability is excellent but what is most striking is the secondary stability giving paddlers of all skills levels the balance they need for success in class I-V rapids. The edge to edge transitions are almost as easy as a displacement hull boat but with the primary stability of a planing hull boat. The user-friendly lines of the boat make it perfect for the novice that hasn't learned how to handle their edges well but will give the class V-VI creeker the control and comfort they need for life on the edge. With the boat being so easy to paddle, it's hard to believe that it has such nice speed as well. I was able to carve through turns and do attainments that I have struggled to make with longer boats.

I'm considering the pyranha karnali l vs the liquid logic remix vs the wave sport diesel 80 as my one for everything boat. I'm in the SE USA doing pool and drop rivers and only do class 5's when I'm having a good day. My two all time favorite boats were a full size perception pirouette and a pyranha micro 240. If I could only combine the best attributes of those two...I know that is wishfull thinking but I hate the thought of buying the wrong boat! I have bought my share of duds over the years and I was hoping to get some feed back on these new all arounders. Thanks.

Remix would be the best all-around (plastic, performance, outfitting), Karnali is higher volume (I would say Burn over Karnali if you paddle class V), Diesel is good outfitting, but bad plastic. If there's lots of pools, I would take the Remix, since it is pretty fast for a WW kayak, and is the most user-friendly. The only thing that I didn't like was the slicier ends, meaning it would be a bit easier to get backlooped, as well as it is really long in comparison to many other whitewater kayaks. Buy a boat to suit the most technical WW that you plan to do so you are always prepared (gear-wise). For more recommendations, just check out the Green Race results here .

Is that Salto for real? Nothing about such a boat on the Eskimo webpage... Looks quite interesting.
