Poll: How often do you practice serious (>20 minutes) aerobic exercising?

Ok, so only a few votes so far but only about a 1/4 not doing very much. Quite surprising... :huh: I reckon I do some form of exercise for between half an hour and maybe 3 to 4 hours at least 4 to 5 times per week. I would have thought that paddlers are more active than the results, which probably don't reflect a true figure anyway. But still, I find it interesting so far. :laugh:

I guess it also depends on whether you are paddling competitions. those who do probably do regularly train.

An interesting detail may be that in September 2008 at the Dutch Freestyle Nationals the top 3 paddlers were all active/high level canoe polo players (including Casper van Kalmthout). So regular aerobic exercise does help ;)

BTW: yesterday I received my copy of a book by Tudor Bompa, "Periodization Training for Sports". There is a lot of information in there, including training information for both sprint and marathon canoeing/kayaking.

Although I have not finished reading it (obviously) I can highly recommend reading the book and use some of it for your own training. It is out of print now but easily obtainable via Amazon in the "new and used" section (pretty cheap too: it cost me $4 to buy and $12 postage :-P ).

Polo players have a high intervall rate during a session, not so much to do with their aerobic exercising. If you want to get into shape quick it's a hard but effective way of doing it.
I sport abound 2-3 times an hour-and half every week in winter and about daily in spring,summer,autumn.

I was actually surprised to see that people are working out as much as they are. If you look at the totals, so far, the majority of people that have voted work out 3 and more times per week. Compared to what I see here in the States, that's doing pretty well. It warmed the cockles of my heart to see so many people exercising :roflol: Kudos to you... :clap: It will be interesting to see the final results.
