Places to paddle in sydney! 16 years 1 week ago #28887

Hello! I am hoping to end up in Sydney in April for a couple of weeks - i would love to paddle out there. problem is however is that i dont know any places! I also don't have a boat or paddle yet so would have to hire. Any information would be much appreciated!

Your best bet would be the penrith whitewater course. It's out west of Sydney.

www.penrithwhitewater.com.au/ - call them before you go to see what hours recreational paddling is on. I'm not sure what sort of kayaks etc. you can hire from them? You could ask, but also horizon line is about 1km away and I think they hire out stuff? www.horizonline.com.au/

Apart from that there's not much too close to Sydney (apart from the Surf). If you want to paddle in AU you have to wait for rain to feed the rivers, and then be willing to travel. You can check out paddle australia website here: www.adventurepro.com.au/paddleaustralia/ - it has a write up on a lot of rivers if you want to have a look, but you'd need to be willing to travel and you'd probably need some gear.
