Paddling group/club in Zurich 18 years 4 months ago #14010

I will be moving to Zurich from Australia in September, and was wondering if I could get any contacts to WW paddling groups (playboating, river-running, creeking) in Zurich. Would love to keep up with paddling once there.

Welcome to Zurich!

We have 4 kayak clubs in town. Two general, one academic, and one polo club (plus one nature club who do a lot of canoeing as well).

KCZ is the most general club I think, with a nice boats house downtown.

100-odd members of all sorts (hardly any children though). Winter training starts late october and you don't have to be a member to participate (well you'd have to become a member if you keep participating):

WVZ is slightly more focused on slalom I think (not sure, as I don't know them too well. I just know a couple of people from that club and they have a slalom background). They have one advantage in case you like 'bird' watching: their boats house is right next to one of Zurich's trendy swimming pools in the river :)

Have a look around on the map and you'll also find some others living here and whom you can contact. Give us a call when you arrive and I'mm sure you'll find plenty of people willing to show you round.

Thanks Jeroen,
I found those sites before, but htey did not seem to have an awfull lot of stuff going on there. I am not into slalom, and was also thinking whether to join a club or just make friends with a more relaxed and informal bunch.

Also, is there a site that would give me an idea about second-hand boats? I will be looking at getting something, probably...

thanks

in that case, you can just hang out at the upper wave in bremgarten and you'll get to know everybody...

Thanks Roman!
I will be in Zuerich from the 1st of October, and will surely come one evening for the training. I will also have to get a boat (a secondhand playboat would be fine), so I will get in touch to get some local knowledge :)
thanks

I will be in town in a month, will be in touch then.

Oh, and I am not sure, but it seems that they are meeting at the boathouse... SO these are probably not pool sessions...? M.
