The Austrian Floods of 2005 - Pictures 19 years 1 month ago #4948

We've been asked by a number of people as to the impact of last years flooding on rivers in the Landeck region. Although the floods were extensive and did flood right down the Inn, it was only the Rosanna and Trisanna and Sanna rivers that really suffered. They were completely destroyed, as was much of the surrounding land.

The Sanna is currently having its river bed excavated to remove the huge amounts of silt and rubble deposited by the floods. Should be interesting in a couple of months as the Spring snow melt begins and a new river Sanna is created. Over the years I have seen many changes to the river but only to sections - and not an entire river.

Some of you may recognise this - it is/was the power station just upstream from the put in of the Sanna:

here are 2 pics of the plattling hole in the Isar, germany (near Munich). If you know the spot, the pictures are taken from the earth wall that seperates the river side with the village..
