Mersey Trail 18 years 6 months ago #10272

Has anyone paddled the mersey trail ( More info here ). I live pretty near this but havn't been on the mersey in years and I can't remember much of it. Are there any decent features on it?

Thanks a lot,

Graeme.

Graeme - Suggest you talk to Dave Higson ( [mail address protected from spambots with javascript] ) or Graham Helsby ( [mail address protected from spambots with javascript] ) at Manchester canoe club - they have paddled most stretches on the Mersey - Good luck

Ahh The Mersey :) That brings back some memories I used to live in Didsbury and worked for the councils Outdoor Pursuits Unit. We used to regularly take rafted canoes down from Northenden Weir to sale water park, there used to be a great surf wave at higher water levels just behind the waterpark, I would say green and glassy but it was always brown and you used to have to avoid some interesting items floating down the river, this was in the days were you used to keep your boat upright and a roll usually meant a few days off work, it was akin to paddling HPP.

Shorty

Yeah, that's a thought. I've seen some dubious items floating down in stockport. I might check it out next weekend. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for your info.
