Have you tried Plas y Brenin (www.pyb.co.uk/), Plas Menai (www.plasmenai.co.uk/intro.php) or Canolfan Tryweryn (www.ukrafting.co.uk/rivercoaching/index.htm) all based here in north Wales where we have a number of year round white water venues to suite all ability levels. :D

kayaking courses covers a broad spectrum of paddling. What exactly do you want to learn? there are hundreds of independant coaches, courses and of course clubs where you can meet up with competant paddlers, get coaching etc.

You are going to be unlikely to find advanced kaykaing courses in the summer in the uk as there is no water apart from dam released, in which case go for trywerryn, check out kayako jacko as they run courses there all year round. then there is woodmill. Adrian from parknplay, chris from h2o coaching the list is endless but no good if there is no water.

Post back what you want to do, gain. if you are looking to paddle grade 3 / 4 then are you not a competent paddler already? if you cant why are you looking to paddle with a competent grade 3 / 4 person? What are you expecting from them? Sounds to me like you just want to get out paddling in which case join a club, you will find people who are always up for paddling and you get to paddle with experianced people at the same time.

Get the thermals ready, paddling season is on its way.

thanks for the msg, i have in fact given up on finding anything good in the UK, during summer the problem is i am still in school and it is really hard to get the amount of time i need off

i have tried joining a club but then they might try to run 1 trip a year so why bother

i am in the process of looking for like minded paddlers and actually as u reminded me i will post a thread here

ps grade III-V water able to paddle regularly in or around wales but will of course travel (if ur interested post back or mayb email me at [mail address protected from spambots with javascript] )

There are rivers around, this summer has been awesome for playboating in the weirs due to the impressive amount of rain. We pretty much paddle every weekend at chertsey weir or other, shepperton etc. Best bet is if i let you know when we are going to be there and you can pitch up there.

If you get on with us then we will paddle at least one river a month, wales, scotland etc. Not about this weekend but weekend after we are heading up to alpkit challenge at the nene, 29 / 30 then second week november we are at tyne tour then dee blah blah blah. I wont paddle a river with you till we have met so get yourelf to nene for that weekend, it will be a good laugh. Failing that will let you know times for chertsey the following weekend.

You are looking at the wrong club if they do one trip a year, what they might mean is they do one organised trip a year but most have plenty of people who paddle regularly. Addlestone canoe club for example do one official club trip a year for all levels but there are guys in the club out every weekend. Depending on where you are check them out.

Anyhow catch up soon on the water.

p.s. wont email you pm me or keep it through here. you shouldnt post your email.

i will certainly take that offer up nxt time i'm near london unfortunately i go to school in shrewsbury wit no car, tis relle frustrating being with 2 hours of good water and not being able to go there was very pissed off that i couldn't go the alpkit challenge on the trywern last weekend (or de 1 b4 dat)

ps i own a playboat but am royally rubbish at freestyle give me a good solid waterfall and i'm fine but a play wave and i'm screwed.... i can surf fine and flat spin but otherwise nothing :-)
