C1: basics, stern rudder
The stern rudder is the basis of a large amount of strokes in C1 paddling especially surfing and pulling moves like blunts. The pictures below demonstrate the position the blade and the person should be in.
Steering with the blade is simple: move it towards and away from the boat for the required direction or then to keep the boat in a straight line.
The angle the hull is at makes a big difference as well: if you lean left you turn left and if lean right you turn right, so you can use the hull to help tracking and turning.
