Excellent wave boat
About Myself
I've been paddling seriously for about 3 years now, the Kingpin is the first playboat I have owned. I have used it both in Ireland and the Southern Alps.
About the test environment
The main place I would use this is in the surf on the west of north coasts of ireland, the boat really reaches its full potential on the large waves.
Review
The Kingpin is a fast boat on the wave, certainly faster than the g-force but not so the crazy 88. It has good carving potential when you really dig the edge in and can turn at the top in the trough in the blink of an eye. The edge to edge control is also responsive and stable. For a butt bouncer it also excells gaining large air with little to no effort, blunts are smoothe and easy.
I am not so fond of the boat in a hole as the volume around the knees seems to make it cartwheel very high out of the water, this however may just be due to my weight.
Conclusion
All in all an excellent boat for big waves and holes and the ocassional spot of flat water, it also has enough speed to make it a good river runner for grade 3 to easy 4. The outfitting is aslo excellent, with the air core hip pads to hold you in that bit tighter, I also replaced the existing dagger backband with an IR flex Capacitor. Wickedbad :D
