A home grown blend of stability and responsiveness designed to make surfing possible on your local river wave Back in 2006 Zack set out to solve a problem. Mike was building waves that looked rideable to Zack, but all the boards he tried bogged down. Except for a few waves at really high flows, surf boards just did not plane out on river waves. River waves are not like ocean waves. Rivers waves are generally smaller and slower. Ocean waves have sharks under them too. So it is not a surprise that boards that surf in the ocean do not work well on standing waves in rivers. In the ensuing 5 years of design and testing Zack came up with a shape that we think is the ultimate tool for surfing standing waves in rivers. These boards will rip large waves in high volume rivers like the Glenwood Wave, but where they shine is at the local play wave at average flows, meaning your river surfing season is not limited to 3-4weeks of high flows, or limited to people with a surfing background. BOGA’s heritage in the SUP Race scene is proven, with Elite and regional wins all across the globe. Our attention to detail and our focus on building fast yet stable race boards remains for 2015 with the newly designed Typhoon shape. After studying the changing climate of racing and board technologies we shaped the 2015 model with 3 main goals: Sprint Speed, Stability and what we call Slipperyness. For speed we have a board without standard top speed limitations, one that can get up on plane and holeshot easily. For Stability we didn’t roll the bottom, instead we added a large single concave running from center and exciting the tail. And for Slipperyness, we removed the nose chin and flattened the bottom entry, moving the wide point forward to create a nose that “skips” on top of the water and doesn’t hold a line. All this translates into a board that can get up and over 7-8MPH in sprints for good starts, handles the draft train well without feeling “sticky” and has the stability both Elites and Recreational racers have come to appreciate.
