Playspot: Northwest Spain, Galicia, Mino River, Ourense Wave |
What's it like
A wide wave right in the center of town. All modern moves can be made: aerial blunts, loops, space godzilas etc...
The spot works from early spring till late fall. The middle of summer is not quite as good as the beginning and end of the season. We are still trying to figure out which flows are best (200 m3/sec seems good).
How to get there
The nearest airports are Santiago (one hour - berlinair ), Vigo (one hour), Porto (less than two hours - Ryanair ) and Valladolid (trhree hours - Ryanair).
If you come by car, first make sure to get on the A52: Coming from France, take the highway "Compostela Way" and then get on the A-52. From Madrid: the A-6 to Corua and then get on the the A-52. From Portugal IP2 a Valen a do Minho and then get on the A-52 direction Madrid. Once on the A52, follow directions to Vigo and take exit 266. After five minutes you'll reach the spot.
The river is the Miño and the spot is situated in the center of the town (100.000 people), between the Medieval Bridge and the Milenio Bridge. If you loose your way, just ask for those bridges or for the "Chabasqueira thermal waters" (public and free, 200 meters downstream of the wave).
Events
The 2004 Spanish championships took place here.
