Brings Valuable Recent Experience and Enthusiasm for Applauded Course Designs

The McLaughlin Whitewater Design Group (MWDG) has announced that Nick Turner has joined their experienced team to develop and oversee construction of in-river recreation venues and self-contained river courses in the US and abroad.

“We are excited about Nick’s experience and the passion he exudes in his approach to river engineering,” comments Rick McLaughlin, P.E., MWDG lead. “He combines his technical expertise with an impressive knowledge of rivers to achieve clients’ performance objectives while addressing the needs of the natural environment. In just a few short years he has built a reputation for work and ethics clients can rely upon for regulatory permitting, feasibility studies, concept design, final design and construction management of river engineering projects.”
Turner has been instrumental in the recent design and construction of whitewater recreation enhancements in Avon, Vail, Glenwood Springs, and Frisco (CO); Ogden and Riverdale (UT); Whitehorse, Canada and Tena, Ecuador. “I’m jumping for joy to be working with MWDG,” he comments, “because they have the resources to tackle the largest river recreation engineering projects in the world.” He holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering from Montana State University.
Turner is the author of Montana Surf, the whitewater guidebook for the state of Montana. He has completed over 30 first descents on rivers in 15 countries that include Russia, Iceland, Norway, Ecuador, Kyrgyzstan, and Nepal, and many of his expeditions have been showcased in Teton Gravity Research films.
