Augsburg, Eiskanal

Playspot: Germany, Augsburg, Eiskanal.

What's it like

A commercial slalom area, with some really nice surf waves and holes (the most famous being the Waschmaschine) between WW II and IV. Relatively safe swimming due to smooth, rounded rocks. As there are hardly any curves in the canal, swims tend to be rather long though.

How to get there

In Augsburg, follow directions to the Zoo. On the Friedbergerstrasse, follow direction Friedberg. Then turn right just before the Lech bridge (Lechbrücke).

Rodeo championships 1995 (Pictures).

Locals

Lots of rather wild play boaters seem to be living in Augsburg. They mean well though....

Events

At least one rodeo or party each year.

Info sources

Eiskanal (German), Stefan Schaub (also lots of other good river descriptions).
