Boise, Boise River, 34th Street Wave
Playspot: USA, Idaho, Boise, Boise River, 34th Street Wave
What's it like
A smooth, glassy, river wide, non breaking wave that is formed by a broken weir on the Boise River, just downstream from Downtown. A very nice eddy on river left has room for 10 or more boats. You can just rudder out and slide onto the wave.
Hazards include cold swift water from snow melt and brush along both sides of the river that make rescue difficult.
The best time to catch it is in spring when the river is flowing near flood stage (7000 cfs)
How to get there
From I-84 take highway 184 (Downtown), then take Chinden Blvd. west to 34th Street. Make a right on 34th St. and park at the elementary school at the end of the road or keep going straight to the river, un-load gear and then return to the school to park.
Locals
Locals include spectators and a few fisherman on the other side of the river.
