hmmm? can't say I have ever saw the boys and girls at the factory praticing their wax on, wax off moves on the shells? would be interesting to know at what time in the process this happens... and why? I could be wrong but I think the buffing and polishing should happen to the mold not the boat.

They normally go over the finished boat with a blow torch to make it shiny. If you watch this video, you will see what I mean. www.lvmvideo.com/quicktime/AssemblingAKayakPart2.mov

?? Blowtorch!!! OUCH!!! Don't know about others. At the BS factory all the buffing and polishing is done by hand over many, many hours...TO THE CAST MOLDS, before a boat is ever cooked. A highly polished mold means that Roto molded plastic should come out of the mold already smooth.. as smooth as the mold the powder was cooked in. If the mold is mirror smooth and the cooking temp is right why would you need a blow torch? You have already melted the powder while cooking it! Never witnessed any buffing on plactic and the only blow torches were used in the process of making our back bands.

I'm thinking everyone has a different touch when it comes to finishing their products. Watch the video though. I have an LL boat and that torch at the end there must've added to the 'bling effect' of the boat because when I got it it gleamed. I liked that. I would think it also helps ensure the boat is perfectly smooth regardless.
